Antimicrobial String-Wound Sediment Filters

Advanced Filtration. Added Protection.

Hydrana's antimicrobial string-wound sediment filters combine dependable filtration performance with specialized antimicrobial polypropylene yarn technology.

Manufactured using polypropylene yarn containing antimicrobial additives, these distinctive blue cartridges are designed to help inhibit microbial growth on treated filter surfaces while capturing dirt, sand, rust, and other suspended particles.

Benefits of Hydrana Antimicrobial Filters

  • Antimicrobial Technology: Helps inhibit bacterial and fungal growth on the treated filter material.
  • Protection Against Microbial Fouling: Designed to help limit microbial growth on the yarn that can contribute to filter fouling.
  • Consistent Filtration: Uniform yarn diameter supports precise winding and consistent cartridge construction.
  • Strong, Durable Design: High-tensile-strength polypropylene yarn helps maintain cartridge integrity.
  • Reliable Sediment Filtration: Helps capture suspended particles, including dirt, rust, sand, and sediment.
  • Professional-Quality Materials: Manufactured using specially developed antimicrobial polypropylene yarn for dependable filtration performance.

What the antimicrobial protection does — and does not do

The antimicrobial treatment is in and on the cartridge itself. It inhibits growth on the cartridge while the cartridge sits in a damp housing doing its sediment job between changes. It does not disinfect the water flowing through it, it does not make untreated water safe to drink, and it is not a reason to extend how long you keep a cartridge. Treat this filter exactly like a high-quality string-wound sediment cartridge — because that is what it is — with added protection for the cartridge itself.

Micron, size and change schedule

Choose micron by sediment: 50–100 for coarse well grit, 20–30 for general sediment, 5–10 for finer dirt and rust (5 micron is the popular default), 1 only as a final stage. Sizes are 10 or 20 inch long, in 2.5 inch standard or 4.5 inch Big Blue diameter. Replace every 3 to 6 months, sooner if pressure drops 10–20 PSI or flow slows.
